problem : watch movie in a 3D tv

    hi,
    i want to watch 3d movies in our Sony Bravia 32 HX 750.I 've connected our Acer Aspire 5740 with the TV using VGA Cable(may be not a good idea) , set the TV as the primary display , played an SBS movie (.mkv) in vlc and watched the output in tv,running side by side.now the TV option from the remote comes disabled on screen.What should I do to get the 3d effect in the TV? I want to play the movie in the laptop and watch in the TV.Will an HDMI 1.4a solve the problem? please advise me...

    You may be on the right track,i use a 3D monitor on my pc but it states i need to use a HDMI cable.
